Leaven.
Leaven helps dough to rise. In and of itself, for baking purposes, it’s a good thing. But there’s a powerful lesson we learn about leaven from the Bible.
You see, once leaven enters in to dough, it’s nearly impossible to get it out. It will spread through the entire “lump” of dough. Ultimately, affecting the entire batch.
When it comes to sin, a little leaven will destroy the whole batch.
In this sermon from 1 Corinthians chapter 5 we find out how sin impacted the early church. Ultimately, we learn how to guard against the same happening to our church(es) today.

“What happens in Corinth stays in Corinth.”
Corinth, the AcroCorinth, a port city and a center for trade, polytheism, it all made for a unique blending pot for self-gratification and sin. But that is NOT the church.
What should the church look like? How should the church act? What separates the Church from the rest of the world and culture?
This sermon is an overview of the Corinthian culture. Find out how this book teaches Christians how to live IN the world, but not OF the world.

Paul teaches us in the book of Galatians that we are NO LONGER SLAVES to sin. In this sermon we learn about how the Low magnifies our need for Christ. We can never measure up to a sovereign God! That does not sound encouraging, does it?
In fact, it’s worse than that. The Bible teaches us we are SLAVES TO SIN. There’s nothing we can do to overcome our sin on our own. We all fall short of the Glory of God, and our sin just magnifies that.
But, because of what Jesus did for us on the cross, we don’t have to be a slave to our sin any more!
This sermon, peppered with a couple testimonies of LifeSpring Christian Church members, is a practical reminder of this truth!

Before in the Old Testament people had to sacrifice lambs, and go to alters, and go to Priests, and do these things in order to make an atonement for their sin. God sent His son, Jesus, to die in our place. A perfect, pure sacrifice so we don’t have to keep sacrificing.
His blood is so powerful it covers all your sins of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. And not just your sins but every other person in the world who ever was, is now, and will be to come. That is how powerful the blood of Christ is!
