    Series: Identity

    Speaker: Tim Nay

    Topic: peace

Having Power Over Sin. We don't STOP sinning just because we're a Christian, but we can make sure sin doesn't have power over us. But how? Being dead to our sin means we are walking in a new life. We are different now. In fact, sin itself is dead to us. In this sermon from Romans chapter 6 we look at what Grace is all about, and what that means when it comes to our sin. We are no longer slaves to our sin. We no longer have to do it. Learn how sin, in light of Grace, is brought to nothing. That's who we are as Christians. That's our identity.

    Topic: Joy, peace

Peace & Joy. What are they and where do they come from? In this sermon from Romans 5:1-11 we learn about what it's like when we aren't at war with God. When we are justified by God, and we have received the peace that comes from being in a right relationship with God (Justified) we can experience true Peace and Joy. At that point we realize our identity isn't wrapped up in the circumstances of our life. And we realize we don't have to be in control of everything all the time. But we can experience what it means to truly rest in Christ. Give this sermon a listen.

Does life ever feel mundane? Another word for that is "dull". In this sermon from Luke 2:8-12 and Matthew 10:10-11 we learn how Jesus brings us JOY. Sometimes life can feel a bit mundane, but when we understand the fundamental difference between HAPPINESS and HOLINESS, we begin to get a better perspective on what true, biblical JOY really is. As Americans we are good at seeking short term pleasure and comfort. However, that kind of pursuit is fleeting. Yet Joy leaves us filled up.

Listen, people will do things out of their own selfish desires and they don't even know it some times. You do, too! But we have the Word of God that we can take time in, and we can listen to people talk about Jesus. We can actually go to the Bible App and look at what Jesus said. And then we can say, "I'm not sure that's quite right, what you're saying, Preacher." Foundationally, go to the Bible and open it up! And John is trying to establish with us that he's about to tell us is true! You can believe it! You can base your life on it!
