Topic: Jacob , Wrestling With God
Jacob Wrestled with God. Like, physically wrestled with God. All night long.
For many people, the idea of wrestling with God is a terrifying concept. Yet God blessed Jacob when the wrestling match was over.
The result? Jacob left with a wrenched hip.
Also, God gave Jacob a new identity and a new name.
Jacob became Israel, the father of God’s People. His sons went on to become the 12 tribes of Israel.
In this sermon we learn why it’s important for us to wrestle with God.

When God makes a promise we believe it, right?
Except, it’s not quite that simple. What if God’s promise takes YEARS to come to fruition?
God is a God of Covenant. And He always does what He says He will do. It may not be on our time. What do we do when we don’t trust God will actually follow through?
What do we do with our emotions?
Emotions are all from God. But sometimes our emotions can distract us from believing or trusting God at His Word.
This story of Abraham and Sarah reminds us that God will do what He says, regardless of our emotions.
This sermon is about emotions and God’s Promises.

In the book of Genesis the Bible tells us of a catastrophic event. The loss of life staggering to a degree we could never fully comprehend: This at the hand of God, Himself.
The wrath of God is something we have to come face to face with.
It’s a very real part of who He is. It’s also how we can understand His Goodness and Grace.
Grace in the flood? How is this story about Grace?
This sermon examines how God chose to save a remnant. And how through the remnant God ultimately saved all mankind. It’s part of our origin story, and it informs who we are as believers even to this day.

Our hearts can deceive us above all else. It can lead us in directions we never wanted to go. In fact, our hearts can lead to sin crouching at our door.
Cain and Able is a story of the first murder we find in Scripture. But it is, in fact, a story of so much more than that.
It’s a story about sacrifices.
It’s a story about parenting.
It’s a story about jealousy.
It’s a story about rivalry that never needed to be.
In the end it’s a story of the human heart, and what happens when we take our eyes off of what’s really important.
